The part you cannot buy anywhere.
A snapped bracket, a missing spare part, an idea in your head. You need neither a drawing nor the right technical terms for this. A photo is enough to start.

A spare part that is no longer made
The manufacturer has stopped supplying it and the appliance is otherwise fine. I measure the broken part and make it again, often sturdier than the original.
Brackets and adaptations
Something needs to go somewhere and nothing on sale fits. Holders, adapters, covers, spacers, bushings.
An idea without a drawing
You know what the part has to do but not how to draw it. That is the normal case rather than the exception, and the design work is part of the service.
Around the house and hobby
One-offs, models, special builds. One piece is a quantity: there is no minimum order and no surcharge for it.

Considerably less than most people assume.
A photo is enough
Photograph the part, ideally with something for scale beside it. A ruler or a coin will do.
Describe where it goes
Where does the part sit, what does it have to hold, does it get warm, is it outdoors? The right material follows from those answers.
I tell you whether it works
Before any effort is spent you learn whether the part can be made and roughly what it will cost. Including when the answer is no.
Only then is it printed
Production starts after your go-ahead. Until then there is no cost and you are not committed to anything.
And if you are unsure whether your job is too small: it is not too small.
You do not need to know the material.
Just describe where it goes, what it carries and how warm it gets. Whether PLA, PETG or ASA is right is part of the advice, not part of your homework.
